The National Interest: Russia is able to “tear NATO in half” in the case of war

The US “International Interest” magazine published an article in which it talked about Russia’s ability to tear “NATO in half” in the event of a war.

John Rusomando wrote in the magazine about what awaits the alliance in the event of a confrontation with Russia, based on the NATO maneuvers that were held in Poland and called “Winter 20”.

During which the alleged enemy from the east inflicted a devastating defeat on the country’s army in just five days.

This happened despite the fact that the theoretical conflict took into account the fact that the Polish Armed Forces had not yet received the fifth generation of F-35s, Patriot missile defense systems and HIMARS multiple launch systems.

The expert wrote that “the exercises showed that the eastern flank of NATO is subject to a “Russian invasion”.

He pointed out that Russia has strengthened and modernized its Western Military Region, where “the most efficient military units” are concentrated in the country, equipped with modern T-90 and T-72B3M tanks, BTR-82 and BMP-3 armored personnel carriers in addition to advanced air defense systems, Including anti-aircraft complexes “Tunguska”, “Pantsir-S1” and S-400.

According to the expert, this group of Russian forces will quickly crush the Polish NATO formations and the Baltic countries if the United States does not increase its presence in this wing.

The article reads: “In the event of a war, the Russian and Belarusian armies would seize NATO territory along the border, thus tearing the alliance forces in half, which would cut off the logistical centers linking Poland and Lithuania”.

The author offers the United States to help Poland replace old weapons with modern weapons that meet coalition standards. In addition, NATO allies must rebuild supply lines that existed in Western Europe before the end of the Cold War.

Moscow has repeatedly stressed that the country does not have aggressive intentions towards other countries, at the same time, the Russian side notes the increasing military activity of the United States and the NATO bloc on their borders.

Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu referred to the “anti-Russian character” of NATO’s actions.

According to him, the ministry is taking all necessary measures to reliably protect the country.
