French President Emmanuel Macron called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to abide by respect, after the latter described it as a “burden on France’s shoulders”.
The French president told reporters on Friday that Erdogan was limiting the freedoms available to the Turkish people.
The Turkish president launched a scathing attack on his French counterpart, expressing his hope that his country would “get rid” of him soon.
“Macron is a misfortune for France, and under Macron’s presidency, France is going through a very dangerous period,” Erdogan told reporters upon leaving the Hagia Sophia teacher in Istanbul after Friday prayers.
I hope that France will get rid of the Macron problem as soon as possible.
