A Russian Su-27 fighter jet intercepts a US spy plane over neutral waters in the Black Sea

The Russian Information Agency quoted the Defense Ministry as saying on Saturday, that Russia has rushed to send a Sukhoi-27 fighter jet to intercept a US RC-135 reconnaissance plane that flew over neutral waters in the Black Sea.

Russia said its warplane returned to its base after the US reconnaissance plane moved away from the Russian border.

Similar incidents have occurred in the region several times this year.

The statement read: “The Sukhoi-27 aircraft belonging to the air defense forces took off in order to identify the air target and prevent penetration of the Russian borders…

The Russian flight crew was able to identify the air target as an RS-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft.

For the US Air Force, and after that it escorted it over the Black Sea.

The statement stressed that the Russian fighter returned safely to its base after the US aircraft changed course and moved away, and that it was prevented from penetrating the Russian borders.
