Terrorists HTS extends its hand to normalization with the West

The general jurist of HTS, “Abd al Rahim Atoun,” considered that the organization “does not pose a threat to the West,” indicating that the area it controls in northwestern Syria is in need of international aid.

Abd al Rahim Atoun, the general legal advisor to Hayat Tahrir al Sham, added that the formation to which he belongs is trying hard to improve its image in front of Western countries and to remove his name from the blacklists.

“Atoun” said in statements he made to “Le Temps” newspaper translated by “Syria Call” that “Tahrir al Sham” and the residents of Idlib are not the same as “ISIS” or the same as those who were in Raqqa during the “caliphate”.

As part of his participation in the report published by the newspaper on Thursday, he added that “Tahrir al Sham” wants to normalize relations with Western countries, and is currently trying to improve its image in front of those countries.

He added: “We want to get out of the blacklists, only then will the region be able to recover because we need international help for reconstruction”.

“Atoun” claimed that “Hayat Tahrir al Sham” is the last to fight the Syrian army and its allies, adding, “But we will not be able to eliminate it without assistance,” as he put it.

It is worth noting that Hayat Tahrir al Sham, since its establishment under the name “al Nusra Front”, has undergone several radical transformations, most notably the disengagement from “al Qaeda” and the attack on the “Guardians of Religion” faction that is classified on the lists of “terrorism”, as well as getting rid of a number of its leaders who are not Syrians and persecution.
