Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu received on Thursday, a delegation of representatives of the Syrian opposition in the capital, Ankara.
The Turkish news “Anadolu Agency” reported that the meeting came prior to the third round of negotiations of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
Cavusoglu Twitted that he stressed during the meeting that “Turkey attaches importance and supports the political process that was launched by Ankara’s efforts”.
The delegation included Anas al Abdeh, head of the Syrian Negotiating Committee, and Nasr al Hariri, who was elected head of the General Authority of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces.
The Turkish minister affirmed that Turkey “stands by the brotherly Syrian people to ensure their security and well-being”.
The international envoy for the Syrian crisis, Gere Pedersen, announced that preparations are underway to hold the third session of the meetings of the small committee for drafting the Syrian constitution on August 24 in Geneva.
