Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Thursday, in a regular press briefing in Beijing, that the United States is no longer a party to the Iran nuclear deal and is not in a position to take action on it.
“Bloomberg” news agency quoted Zhao Lijian as saying that China urges the United States to abide by the UN Security Council resolutions.
On the other hand, Zhao Legian called on the United States to stop “wrong moves” in Hong Kong, adding that China decided that Hong Kong would also stop its cooperation with the United States on extradition.
On Wednesday, the US State Department said that the United Sates had suspended three agreements with Hong Kong on extradition and tax exemptions, and returned its decision to imposing the Chinese National Security Law on the region.
US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement that the move is part of implementation measures following the executive order issued by US President Donald Trump last July that ended preferential treatment to Hong Kong.
