A Russian general was killed and three soldiers were wounded in an explosive device explosion in Syria

Three soldiers, including a Russian brigade, were injured when an explosive device went off on their way back after carrying out a humanitarian operation in Deir al Zour.

“On the eighteenth of August, during the return of a convoy after carrying out a humanitarian operation 15 km from the city of Deir al Zour, an explosive device exploded while the cars were moving,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The statement continued: “The explosion killed a Russian military advisor with the rank of major general, and wounded three soldiers accompanying him”.

The Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria announced earlier that the militants in Syria were targeting the sites of the Syrian forces and trying to attack the Hmeimim base.

The center’s statement also confirmed that the illegal presence of the United States east of the Euphrates has become a major reason for impeding dialogue between the warring parties.

The statement added, “Russia and Syria are ready to take all necessary measures to settle the situation in the east of the Euphrates and resume the national dialogue”.

The statement indicated that the situation in areas outside the control of the Syrian authorities in Deir al Zour is worsening day after day.
