Crisis of protests escalates in Israel … injuries in violent clashes between supporters and opponents of Netanyahu in Tel Aviv

Israeli reports said on Wednesday, that five people were injured in clashes between supporters and opponents of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted opponents of Netanyahu that elements supporting him infiltrated a march to them and attacked the demonstrators with sticks, bottles, and pepper spray.

More than a thousand people demonstrated last night near the home of the Minister of Internal Security, Amir Ohana, and closed the streets in Tel Aviv to protest “his attempt to thwart civil protests”.

Israel is witnessing frequent protests against the government’s policies related to the Coronavirus and the way Netanyahu deals with the pandemic.

Israel rushed to impose strict closures in March, resulting in relatively low rates of Coronavirus cases, as well as significantly lower death rates.

However, it was also quick to lift the closure, causing the number of cases to increase again since the end of May.
