US Democratic candidate Joe Biden outperformed President Donald Trump among voters in the state of Texas after the escalation of cases and deaths of coronavirus emerging there, according to a new opinion poll.
Bloomberg News reported that a poll conducted by the Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Taylor showed Sunday that Biden received 46 percent of the recorded votes, compared to 41 percent in favor of Trump.
The agency said that the survey included about 1,900 Texas residents, and was conducted between June 29 to July 7, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percent.
Trump’s handling of the Coronavirus crisis may have affected the poll results, with 44 percent saying they strongly disagree with the president’s performance, compared to 22 percent who strongly agree.
Democrats often talk of a change in the situation in that pro-Republican tidbit for the presidential race because of demographic shifts, but Trump easily won it in 2016, with 52 percent of the vote compared to 43 percent for Hillary Clinton.
