The commander-in-chief of the SDF received Mazlum Abdi, the commander of Russian forces in Syria, Alexander Chayko, to discuss a number of issues, including Turkey’s violations of the October 23 agreement.
Abdi tweeted, that he discussed with Chayko, “Turkey’s violations of the October 23 agreement, especially the assassination of the three Kurdish activists in Kobani (Ain Arab)”.
He added that it was agreed to raise the level of coordination and joint work, noting that he thanked Chayko for his “responsiveness in working to face challenges”.
The aforementioned agreement is a memorandum of understanding on Syria reached by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi on October 22, 2019.
It calls for the deployment of units of the Russian military police and the Syrian army in the lands adjacent to the Turkish “Spring of Peace” operation area in northern Syria as of October 23.
