Turkey: Militant groups trying to undermine the cease-fire in Idlib

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar confirmed, on Wednesday, that the three-month-old ceasefire agreement in Idlib, Syria, remains steadfast despite attempts by militant groups to undermine it.

“There are some militant groups, including unknown groups that have their own agendas, that are trying to undermine and violate the ceasefire, but we are discussing the matter with our Russian colleagues and the agreement concluded on March 5 is still in place,” Akar said in an interview.

Akar did not mention news of air strikes that he claimed last Monday had targeted several villages under the control of armed groups in northwestern Syria, for the first time since the ceasefire system went into effect in March.
