Unemployment in Israel jumps to 22.15%

The Israeli authorities announced today, Sunday, that the number of unemployed people has increased to about one million.

The Israeli Employment Service indicated that the unemployment rate rose to a record 22.15%.

According to the Jerusalem Post, about 33,000 people have applied for unemployment benefits during the past two days, bringing the total of those who applied for benefits during this March alone to 764,000 people.

It should be noted that the population of Israel is about nine million.
