Military source in Syria: Turkey started withdrawing heavy weapons from observation points in Idlib, Syria

A Russian military source said, “Novosti”, that Turkey began withdrawing heavy weapons from its control points in the Syrian Idlib governorate.

“Ankara has gradually begun to withdraw heavy weapons from observation points in Idlib, Syria, in accordance with the agreement reached on March 5,” the source said.

It is noteworthy that the Russian and Russian presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held, on March 5, discussions on the recent escalation in the Syrian province of Idlib.

The talks resulted in agreement on a joint document that provides for adhering to the Astana formula for the Syrian settlement, a cease-fire in Idlib and a joint patrol in a section of the strategic M4 road.
