Washington is blocking a declaration at the United Nations supporting the Turkish-Russian agreement in Syria for a cease-fire in Idlib at the request of Moscow

The United States blocked Friday the adoption by the United Nations Security Council of a declaration supporting the Russian-Turkish agreement to a cease-fire in the Idlib province of Syria, at the request of Russia, diplomats said after a closed meeting.

The diplomats reported that when Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzia asked his 14 Security Council partners to adopt a joint declaration on the Russian-Turkish agreement, Washington said “it is premature”.
