Syrian opposition factions announce the start of a battle in the countryside of Idlib and control several villages

Syrian opposition factions made progress hours after a battle was launched in the southeastern countryside of Idlib on Saturday and took control of several villages.

Opposition armed factions in Idlib, launched a large-scale military battle against the positions of Syrian government forces and their loyalists in the southeastern countryside of Idlib.

In a statement obtained by the German Press Agency (DPA) said: “The opening operations room will announce the start of a battle southeast of Idlib, let the enemy wait for us to take off the hearts and calm the staff”.

A military commander in the National Liberation Front told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that opposition factions took control of the villages of Rasm Al Ward, Sarooj, Stables and Ijaz southeast of Idlib after fierce battles against government forces, Iranian forces and Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas, from which dozens fell, killed and wounded and several military vehicles were destroyed”.

“After the government forces lost their positions, dozens of rockets were fired at the towns of Kafarsijnah and the vicinity of Kfroma town and the villages of Muwqa, Ziyan and Tahtaya in the southern countryside of Idlib”, the military commander added.

Sources close to the Syrian government forces told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that the Syrian army was responding to a violent attack by armed groups affiliated to HTS / Jabhat Al Nusra and the Ajnad Al Caucas on villages in the southeastern countryside of Idlib.

In the region of Surooj, weather conditions, especially fog, have affected the course of the fighting”.
