US Central Command: About 500 US troops remain in eastern Syria

The commander of US Central Command, General Kenneth McKinsey, that about 500 US troops are still in eastern Syria “to counter the operations of ISIS, which is expected to escalate in the coming days”.

McKinsey made the remarks on the sidelines of the 15th Manama Dialogue Conference organized by the Bahraini Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

A report by the Pentagon said that IS has exploited the Turkish military incursion in northeastern Syria to regroup, and is likely to be able to stage new attacks against Western targets.
