Turkish presidential spokesman announces work with US to reach settlement on S400 and F35 issues

Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Friday that he will start working with the US side on Friday to reach a settlement on the Russian S400 and F35 fighters.

This came during his participation in a program on the Turkish channel “TRT Khabar” Turkish to evaluate President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the United States, last Tuesday and Wednesday.

They said President Erdogan and his US counterpart Donald Trump had cost him and US national security adviser Robert O’Brien to coordinate the issue.

“The two presidents, assigned O’Brien and I, during the meeting at the White House”, he said.

“We’re now starting work, and we’ve started this work today”.

He explained that the work will be at the bilateral level between the two countries, not in coordination with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

He said the S400 could be used independently without being integrated into NATO’s defense system.

He pointed out that the Turkish delegation went to Washington with a clear vision, and that there presented the theses of Turkey very openly.

They said the meeting dealt with important issues, including the safe area in Syria.

He stressed that Trump asked Erdogan in detail about the number of refugees in Turkey, who can return, and places to return, and said that Europe should help Turkey, it is not helping it enough.

He considered that Trump’s vision and disclosure of this matter is one of the main pillars of the meeting.

They said the two presidents agreed that the issue should be discussed with NATO.

He continued: “President Erdogan will raise this issue already during the NATO summit (December), and the transfer of this key idea to the NATO summit after understanding with Trump, is an important outcome of this visit”.

The Turkish presidential spokesman explained that not all problems have been solved, but this is a stage, and it is important to manage them well.
