US presidential candidate accuses Trump of using Al Qaeda to fight Assad

Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has accused US officials of using the Al Qaeda terror network to fight Syrian President Bashar Al Assad’s government.

“I guarantee that we will stop supporting terrorists like Al Qaeda in Syria, which our government uses as ground forces in the war of regime change there”, Gabbard said in a debate among Democratic presidential candidates.

In addition, Gabbard promised to lift Saudi Arabia’s sanctions against Yemen and those that caused famine in Syria.

She described a New York Times report as “disgusting” for calling it “Russia-affiliated” and “defending Assad”.

US presidential elections will be held in 2020, with Senator Bernie Sanders and former vice president Joe Biden leading the race for the Democratic nomination, against current President Donald Trump.
